SR24 - SR24 Alfa Romeo RL Super Sport Lusso Zagato (1927)

The RL was presented on October 13, 1921 in Milan and subsequently at the London Motor Show in 1921 and, also given the initial interest, it was put into series production in different versions. With the RL, Alfa Romeo also completed its range with a model that occupied the previously empty medium-high segment of the market.
Four versions of this model were produced between 1922 and 1927, initially the Normale and the Sport were launched which in 1925 were replaced by the Turismo and the Super Sport. As was the custom of the time, the car was not sold as a complete car directly from the house but as a bare chassis to be bodied at will. Several Italian (Castagna, Falco, Zagato) and foreign (J.D. Farre, Vanden Plas) coachbuilders tried their hand at these chassis, creating different types of cars depending on the type of chassis and purpose such as torpedo, closed sedans, Weymann bodies, limousines and also spider.

La RL venne presentata il 13 ottobre 1921 a Milano e successivamente al salone dell'automobile di Londra del 1921 e, visto anche l'interesse iniziale, venne messa in produzione in serie in diverse versioni. Con la RL l'Alfa Romeo completava inoltre la propria gamma con un modello che occupava la fascia medio-alta del mercato precedentemente vuota.

Tra il 1922 e il 1927 furono prodotte quattro versioni di questo modello, inizialmente vennero lanciate la Normale e la Sport che nel 1925 vennero sostituite dalla Turismo e dalla Super Sport. Come in uso dell'epoca l'automobile non veniva venduta come una vettura completa direttamente dalla casa ma come autotelaio nudo da far carrozzare a piacimento. Su questi telai si cimentarono diversi carrozzieri italiani (Castagna, Falco, Zagato) e stranieri (J.D. Farre, Vanden Plas) realizzando diverse tipologie di vetture a seconda del tipo di telaio  e dello scopo come torpedo, berline chiuse, carrozzerie in Weymann, limousine e anche spider.
